May Nature Table Crafts

May Nature Table Crafts

It is so exciting to see nature blooming outside with all the beautiful colors.  It seems like each day there is something new to look at, something beautiful to admire.  Right now we are enjoying the pink blossoms on the apple tree.   When we moved to our house, 5 years ago, I was so happy to have a tree in the backyard.  Not only does it provide shade for the sandbox on a hot summer day, it houses bird nests, and holds our swing (and occasionally a daring climber). We appreciate and anticipate the trees appearance throughout the changing seasons, always a beautiful reminder of cycles and change.

Inside, weve made some new decorations for the nature table.  I cut out some felt leaves and flowers that were easily strung with thread and a needle to make a spring garland.

At the top of the nature table is some cut "paper grass".  We colored strips of white paper, green.  Then we folded the paper accordion style and cut a fringe to make the grass.  Flowers were also drawn in the grass.  I think the only thing we need now are some little eggs!  With all that chirping outside, we may just be lucky enough to come across some robin eggshells outside.

Mirrored Pedestal Table

Mirrored Pedestal Table

These days, Im always looking for pieces for our library/living room.  Im still searching for the arm chairs that Ill put in front of the window and some more accent pieces.

Well, on Sunday, I made my (nearly) semiweekly trip to HomeGoods to browse for accessories for our wall of bookshelves. Were going to have 3 bookcases with at least 6 shelves each, thats a lot of space to fill... we need a lot of stuff to put there. I was walking around looking at small decor items and I walked down the accent table aisle and saw this:

Yes!!! Its exactly what Ive been envisioning in my head and it popped up in HomeGoods!  I love the distressed champagne finish on the wood and the mirrored pieces are really pretty!  The proportions are just right, I think any chairs that I get will go really nicely with this table!

When I got home, I positioned it in the library with two of the upholstered chairs from our dining room as the arm chair placeholders. I bought a faux-mercury glass lamp at HomeGoods a couple weeks ago, and I think it goes really nicely with the table. I havent decided if that will stay on this table or go another one in the room. Either way, Im loving how pieces brighten up the room.

So, thats my most recent fabulous HomeGoods find!

Do you love HomeGoods? What have you scored there recently?
