Mobile Operating System

Mobile Operating System

A mobile operating system, also known as a mobile OS is an operating system for devices such as a smartphone, tablet, PDA or other mobile devices; However, while some computers are strictly mobile, as typical laptop, their operating systems usually used on them, is not regarded as another mobile as they were originally designed for larger stationary desktop computers not historically have or need "mobile" specific characteristics. This distinction is fading in some newer operating systems that are hybrid made for both uses.

Mobile operating systems combine the features of a personal computer operating system with other useful features for mobile or handheld; including usually, and most of the following considered essential in modern mobile systems; a touch screen, cellular, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, portable GPS navigation, camera, video camera, voice recognition, voice recorder, music player, Near Field Communication and IR blaster.

Mobile devices with mobile communication functions (eg, smartphones) contain two mobile operating systems - the main user oriented software platform is complemented by a second low-level proprietary operating system that works in real-time radio and other equipment . Research has shown that these low-level systems may contain a number of security vulnerabilities for malicious base stations to obtain high levels of control of the mobile device.
