Mobile Tools 10 Best Android Hacking Apps Available in 2016

Want to twirl your fingers on your smartphone and hack into FBI servers? Want to solve crimes and impress other with your whacky hacking skills? Or want to get rich like John Connor from Terminator by hacking ATMs? Well you CANNOT do that! There are no best hacking apps for Android. As great as Android is, there is possibly no way a simple app will be able to hacking into your ex’s Facebook account and check who they are dating now. Sorry to disappoint you folks, if it were this easy, everyone would be doing that.

So what is the point of this article then? This article is for those who know a thing or two about hacking and merely need simple tools to augment that. I’m talking about guys with thick spectacles, degrees in software engineering, revolving chairs, epic gaming PC and names which sound remarkably like Billa. Even if you are a handsome looking hacker like that guy from Watchdogs, you will sometimes need the aid of trusty apps which help you with white hat hacking.

This article is not going to be your traditional list article which I usually write about. I won’t be listing any apps with features and whatnot because those who actually need them will know just by name. So yes, this is not a traditional article and it is not for everyday Android users. I will however list the apps in order so it will be easier to track them. I would also suggest that you ignore the ratings on the Google Play page because some people think they can hack pentagon with their smartphones.

Lets see Best Android Hacking Apps 2016 that are meant for hacking, hackers, security researchers;

1. Hackode

This app is probably the most neglected one on the list because of its off looking interface. But if you need work done, this app can really help you in that. If you are a penetration tester or even an IT administrator, this app will provide invaluable tools to you.

This won’t be the best hacking app for Android though because it can only scan for exploits. If you have a keen eye for exploits, you may be able to do some hacking but it sure won’t be from your smartphone though, you will actually need to have access to a Linux or Windows based personal computer.

2. Androrat

Remote Administration Tool for Android. Androrat is a client/server application developed in Java Android for the client side and in Java/Swing for the Server.

3. Burp Suite

Burp Suite is an integrated platform for performing security testing of web applications. Its various tools work seamlessly together to support the entire testing process, from initial mapping and analysis of an application’s attack surface, through to finding and exploiting security vulnerabilities.

dSploit is an Android network analysis and penetration suite which aims to offer to IT security experts/geeks the most complete and advanced professional toolkit to perform network security assessments on a mobile device.

7. WiFinspect

This app requires a rooted smartphone to function fully but if you are using this app, chances are you have already rooted your smartphone. I unfortunately cannot root my work smartphone so was not able to test the Network Sniffer or host discovery features of the app but the rest of the app seems to be working perfectly.

If you want to monitor a network you own or manage, this is a good app for you to use. Thankfully it comes with a sensible interface which prioritizes information over looks and yet still manages to look fine.

8. BusyBox Installer

I will not go deeper into what this app does because frankly speaking it will take a lot more than just hundred words to explain that. But for those who know what this app can do, it provides more versions available than any other app on the Google Play Market.

The app is also able to update the versions automatically so you don’t have to manually update them. This installer also comes with a pretty great scripter that allows you to run as well as manage your scripts. Of course the advance features will require a rooted device.

9. Network Discovery

Want to discover your network? Get this app on your Android device. This is not the best hacking app for Android but it can help you in knowing how many wannabe hackers are using your internet connection to torrent illegal movies.

This is a great way to even know the mac addresses of the connected devices. The interface could use a bit lifting up but the clunky design does give it more credibility as a hacking app for Android. Apart from that there is nothing more to the app.

10. Fing

This is one of the best network tools for Android available today. I have personally used it a lot of times and it delivers each and every time. It can discover all the connected devices to your WiFi network. There is no restriction on the discovered devices as well.

The app also catches the MAC address and details the device manufacturer so you can determine who is using the network. I use this to close other devices from accessing my network when gaming, I don’t want freeloaders from my neighbors leeching off my speed and causing lag.

There are a ton of more features in the app which can really help an IT administrator or security personnel. If you need one network app on Android, get this one first and see if it works as good for you as it has for me.

I personally don’t endorse hacking; unless it is white hat one.

These days hacking have gotten really hard and only a few dedicated people are actually good at it. Before you say anything DDOS attacks are not hacking, they are like thousands of head banging on a door at once. 1. Begin with the user: What are they already doing with mobile? Several students own cell phones. Smartphones have grewat penetration. People are using these for media creation - video and stills.
   
2. Start with the end in mind: What do you want to accomplish? Are you trying to help increase sales? Will this be performance support? Will this connect communities? Will this help with reference materials? If youre doing something just for fun, its not meaningful. The 5 moments of learning needs are when people want to learn for the first time, when wanting to learn more, when trying to remember, when things change, when something goes wrong. Which moment are you catering to? What nuggets will people take away from other learning experiences that people need immediate access to? This could be the driver for mobile. This is not just elearning on the mobile. Judy recommends mobile for stolen moments of productivity. The US Army believes that perishable knowledge should not be taught in the schoolhouse, but instead be made accessible. Judy also recommends that we think outside the course.
   
3. Plan for Success: What will success look like for you? Many companies cant share what theyre doing, but Judy has a great case study from Merrill Lynchs mobile program - GoLearn. Theyve discovered that going mobile makes things 45% faster. 100% of their audience want more of this kind of stuff and 99% of the audience believe that the format supports learning in a big way. The problem was that they didnt plan for this success and were not able to deal with the deluge of demand that followed.
4. Remember Capabilities: What is not available to people on the desktop or laptop? Its important to design for the form factor and capabilties of the new devices than just porting an old way of designing to the mobile platform. GPS, multi-touch, voice, cameras, video recording - these are all new capabilties and they need to feed into the design decisions. Think about content creation, basic communications, training delivery, social networking, on-demand information access.
   
5. Think Differently: Judy showed us a commercial course on language. The cool aspect of this course is a nifty little twitter button which the user can press and that brings up a twitter stream that shows the word or phrase youre learning about in the context of peoples live tweets! What a cool way of understanding how to construct sentences in a new language? A tweet that Judy is showing us tells a story of how easy it is to deploy to mobile app stores (3 days on Android, 5 days on apples app store) as against 112 days to go to print! Judy is also showing the app for the Obama campaign that we also participated in. How awesome! Theres a hair dressing curriculum on mobile - I personally find that interesting; do I want someone to read a course on mobile and then cut my hair?
6. Think small: Bitesized, nuggets, micro-learning, small screens. Remember mLearning is about different platforms!
   
7. Consider spacing effect: Its now affordable. We know that repetition is key to retention. We know that learning that happens over a period of time is naturally aligned to the way we pick up our skills. She is showing how based upon a womans delivery date, she can send text messages to number and get information over time that makes sense at the time that expecting mothers need this. Information in context, trumps instruction out of context. In Neil Lashers case it can just be a simple phone call. Will Thalheimer has heaps of research in support of the spacing effect.
   
8. Consider tools: What do you need? An app? Or are you going to deploy just for the browser? Or are you going to invest in cross platform development? There are products that act more like platform connecting to your LMS and act as players for your mobile device. This is an example of develop once, deploy many times. Theres a nice mlearning guide at ADL that should work across all devices - this is an example of making a mobile website that just works across several devices. ePub is a great format to publish to mobile devices. Judy is showing a crisis response related project that she built in 3 hours, that works across several devices.
9. Test, test, test: Judy puts a lot of stress on testing, though with the caveat that emulators are the same thing as actual devices.
10. Plan for distribution and ongoing support: Make it known, market it, make it visible. Does your IT helpdesk know how to support this?
11. Looking ahead: Judy recommends that we look ahead at emerging technologies like augmented reality, QR codes, augmented reality and interactive story telling (ARIS). And contrary to popular belief this may not be a huge cost to create.
12. Dont try to boil the ocean: Judy also says that we shouldnt bite off more than we can chew. We need to start with doable projects. I would add that we need to start small, think big, release quickly and iterate!

Mobile eavesdropping via SS7 and first reaction from telecoms

Mobile network operators and manufacturers finally said some words about vulnerabilities in the SS7 technology that allow an intruder to perform subscriber’s tracking, conversation tapping and other serious attacks. We reported some of these vulnerabilities and attack schemes in May 2014 at Positive Hack Days IV as well as here in our blog.

In December 2014, these SS7 threats were brought to public attention again, at the Chaos Communication Congress in Hamburg, where German researchers showed some new ways to intercept and decrypt mobile phone calls using SS7. The research have included more than 20 networks worldwide, including T-Mobile in the United States.

Meanwhile, the Washington Post reports  that GSMA did not respond to queries seeking comment about the vulnerabilities in question. For the Post’s article in August on location tracking systems that use SS7, GSMA officials acknowledged problems with the network and said it was due to be replaced over the next decade because of a growing list of security and technical issues.

The reply from T-Mobile was more abstract: “T-Mobile remains vigilant in our work with other mobile operators, vendors and standards bodies to promote measures that can detect and prevent these attacks."

We also found the first official reaction from Huawei:

Huawei has obtained the vulnerability information from open channels and launched technical analysis.

Again, not too much said. But it’s better that nothing, considering the fact that SS7 problem is not new: it’s traced back to the seventies of the last century. In the early two thousands SIGTRAN specification was developed; it allowed transferring SS7 messages over IP networks. Security flaws of upper levels of SS7 protocols were still presented. The telecom engineers had been alerting that subscriber locating and fraud schemes using SS7 are possible, since 2001.

For obvious reasons, providers didnt want the public to know about these vulnerabilities. However, its believed that law enforcement agencies used SS7 vulnerabilities to spy on mobile networks for years. In 2014, it was found out that there are private companies providing a whole range of the above-mentioned services to anyone who wants. For example, this is how the SkyLock service provided by the American company Verint works:

Washington Post notes that Verint do not use their capabilities against American and Israeli citizens, "but several similar systems, marketed in recent years by companies based in Switzerland, Ukraine and elsewhere, likely are free of such limitations".

The more detailed description of this tracking technology and other SS7 attacks could be found in our report “Vulnerabilities in SS7 mobile networks” published in 2014.

Data presented in this report were gathered by Positive Technologies experts in 2013 and 2014 during consulting on security analysis for several large mobile operators and are supported by practical researches of detected vulnerabilities and features of the SS7 network.

During testing network security, Positive Technologies experts managed to perform such attacks as discovering a subscribers location, disrupting a subscribers availability, SMS interception, USSD request forgery (and transfer of funds as a result of this attack), voice call redirection, conversation tapping, disrupting a mobile switchs availability.

The testing revealed that even the top 10 telecom companies are vulnerable to these attacks. Moreover, there are known cases of performance of such attacks on the international level, including discovering a subscribers location and tapping conversations from other countries.

Common features of these attacks:

• The intruder doesnt need sophisticated equipment. We used a common computer with OS Linux and SDK for generating SS7 packets, which is publicly available on the web.
• Upon performing one attack using SS7 commands, the intruder is able to perform the rest attacks by using the same methods. For instance, if the intruder managed to determine a subscribers location, only one step left for SMS interception, transfer of funds etc.
• Attacks are based on legitimate SS7 messages: you cannot just filter messages, because it may have negative influence over the whole service. An alternative way to solve the problem is presented in the final clause of this research.

Mobile Switching Center DoS

Mobile Services Switching Center (MSC) is a core element in GSM/UMTS network. MSC is responsible for routing voice calls, as well as other services.

Is it difficult to conduct DoS against MSC and leave mobile subscribers without connection? It depends.  We go for SS7 networks.

Modern protocols usually have embedded security features, but not including SS7/SIGTRAN stack.  Difficult connection procedures provide access control for SS7 signal networks, and at the same time, are expensive and mostly red-tape. But convergent IP networks allows us to access SS7 far easier. And this leads to a security threat as an attacker could send signal messages in SS7 networks, as well as intercept and modify the messages on his/her own way.

The results are upset for operators: troubles with hardware, unauthorized calls, subscriber data leakage and so on.

We decide to make operators nightmare come true and conduct DoS against MSC.
MSRN Flood is an appropriate name for our method.

MSRN (Mobile Station Roaming Number) is a number identical to an ordinary telephone number and is used for routing calls from Gateway Mobile Switching Centre to a certain MSC that serves a subscriber at this moment. In fact, it is a temporary subscriber number. Every MSC has a certain configured pool of MSRN numbers.

Exploiting MSRN Flood, an attacker tries to exhaust MSRN pool that make it impossible for the system to route calls.

The attack is successful if MSC pool is rather small and the system does not implement MSRN Flood protection measures.

We test Mobile Switching Center in a lab environment; MSC does not serve subscribers at this moment.

Our traffic generator sent about 6500 provideRoamingNumber MAP messages in 45 seconds.

The test switch stops responding in several seconds. It turns out to have only about 1000 configured identifiers.

As soon as MSRN pool is exhausted, MSC responds with noRaomingNumberAvailable error message. In real life, this means MSC is unable to provide service for incoming mobile calls: actually, a denial of service!

We do not manage to find public information about embedded MSRN Flood protection in MSC, and  conclude that the the attack  success depends on these reasons: the size of MSC pool and Mobile Station Roaming Number timeout.

Also, there are some more interesting facts detected. Default MSRN  timeouts differ depending on vendors (for example, 30 seconds for Ericsson, 45 seconds for Huawei). Normally, MSRN is "alive" for less than a second. Besides, the MSC assigns MSRN for the same  IMSI (International mobile Subscriber Identity) many times. It means that a single IMSI is enough to attack a switch.

Thats just the results. We sincerely hope that the situation in real networks is different, and the networks are protected against DoS, but who knows it for sure...
